about the restaurant
Oak Town Café opened its doors on December 1st, 1998, in the Old Oakland section of town in the former site of Café Chenevillé. Hoping to create a comfortable, casual setting with good food and wine... The intent was to serve good food, using ingredients and vegetables from local farms, fresh fish (local when available), using local meat purveyors, buying wine and beverages from small producers and small family operations. Please visit the restaurant and let us know what you think!

about the (sole) proprietor
Lou Salerno oversees the kitchen and the restaurant. He comes to the Oak Town Café via the following restaurants and businesses: Bucci's Café in Emeryville, Gordon Biersch in San Francisco, and Square One in San Francisco.
